Maggie Grace is an American actor who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most well-known roles are Shannon Rutherford, a character in ABC's Lost series, and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Her birthplace was Worthington, Ohio and dropped out of high school after her parents separated to go to Los Angeles to live with her mother. The actress landed her first part in the film, Rachel's Room's title character, in 2001, despite having a difficult time with finances. Her performance in the role of Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the T.V. movie Murder In Greenwich in 2002, earned her a nomination for a Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford played the lead actress on Lost for its first two seasons. In 2004, she won the Screen Actors Guild Award with all the cast. Leaving the series Grace was keen to work as a film actress, and had played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. The actress was on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) as well as opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in the year 2008. The role was reprised in Taken 2 (2013) and Taken 3 (2015). In addition, she played Alice in Malice in Wonderland which is a modern adaptation from the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised Shannon's role on Lost for two episodes, which included the series final. In 2013, Grace appears in Californianation, the 6th Season. She portrays Faith as a groupie, and also a muse to the stars who captures the attention of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. She belongs to the Gyllenhaal clan as well as the younger sister of Jake Gyllenhaal. The career of her mother began when she was an early teenager, with small roles in several films by her father. She also worked with her brother in 2001's famous film Donnie Darko. The year 2002 saw her was featured as a character on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. The actress also starred on Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her performance in the romantic erotic comedy drama Secretary (2002) as well as the drama Sherrybaby (2006) both of which earned her an Golden Globe Award nomination. After several commercially successful films in 2006, including World Trade Center she received more attention for her role as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). The year 2009 was the time she was nominated as the Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her role of a single mother as she appeared in Crazy Heart. The following years, she starred in comedies as well as dramatic movies: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012. Alongside her work as an agent of the Secret Service agent, she was also seen in White House Down (2013) and Frank (2014). One of her latest roles included as the main character in The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal began her career as screenwriter, director and writer in the year 2021. she wrote and directed her psychological horror film The Lost Daughter. The film was awarded Best Screenplay at the Venice International Film Festival, and was also nominated for the Academy Award.
